Our Story

Born and raised in Jakarta before her family moved to Bali, Chef Dionne’s culinary journey is defined by a balance of discipline and creativity. For years, she served as the "secret ingredient" behind some of the city's best dining experiences. Her resume reads like a tour of hospitality excellence, spanning from Mt. Joy and Ethan Stowell Restaurants to Poppy, Canlis, and The Four Seasons and Sheraton Hotels. After years of crafting the perfect finale for other chefs' menus, Dionne has stepped out of the background to build a space that is entirely her own.

Cloudy Cafe is more than a bakery; it is a delicious collision of cultures. Our mission is to strip away the pretense of fine dining while keeping the technique impeccable. We marry the buttery, flaky layers of traditional French viennoiserie with the bold, zesty flavors of Indonesia—imagine tamarind-infused syrups, passionfruit custards, and savory island spices. By utilizing the best seasonal ingredients the Pacific Northwest has to offer, we create treats that tell a story spanning from the tropical equator to the Puget Sound.

We believe that a bakery is the heartbeat of a neighborhood. Whether you are grabbing a morning croissant on your way to work or settling in to savor a slice of our quichw, we want Cloudy Cafe to be a bright spot in your day. We are so proud to call Ballard home and can’t wait to share our passion with you.
